Presentation focuses on veterans mental health needs

(Athens, Ohio Aug. 13) Todd Fredricks, D.O., assistant professor of family medicine, will present "Meeting the Mental Health Needs of Our Veterans and Our Military Families - Understanding the Basics," on Tuesday, Aug. 14, from noon to 1 p.m. in Grosvenor west 111.

Objectives of the presentation include:

  • Simple techniques on identifying veterans and their families;
  • Recognizing the seven Army Core values;
  • Discussing behavioral health changes of returning veterans and their family members;
  • Recognizing traumatic brain injury and assessment.

The presentation is also available via videoconference at the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Tri-County Mental Health and Counseling Service sites. One hour of continuing education credits are available for physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors and social workers.

 

The presentation is presented by OU-HCOM, Area Health Education Center and the Consortium for Health Education in Appalachia Ohio.
