OU-HCOM hires Raines as new chief financial officer

(ATHENS, Ohio—January 7, 2012) Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) has hired Chris Raines, M.B.A., as its new chief financial officer.

Raines will oversee the college’s Office of Financial Services. He will serve as treasurer of the board of the Centers for Osteopathic Research and Education, the college’s consortium of 27 teaching hospitals and health care organizations across Ohio. He begins his duties on Jan. 7, 2013.

“Chris brings a wealth of experience to the position. He is going to be a great asset to the growth of our college and to the development of the two new extension campuses,” said OU-HCOM Dean Kenneth Johnson, D.O.

Since 2008, Raines has been the chief financial officer of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Beckley, W.Va. Previously he worked as a budget analyst in the Department of the Treasury, Bureau of the Public Debt in Parkersburg, W.Va., and served as the director of communications for a congressional campaign in 2002. He was a Herndon Fellow for the West Virginia Senate president and Senate majority leader, only the second fellow in the history of the program to serve under the Senate leadership.

He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Charleston and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from West Virginia State University.

Raines replaces Kathy Brooks who will serve as executive director overseeing the implementation of the historic $105 million gift from the Osteopathic Heritage Foundations that the college received in 2011.
