New printing/copying method in the LRC

On June 25, 2015, public printers in the Learning Resource Center began requiring the use of Bobcat Cash via your Ohio University ID or HCOM card to pay for print jobs.

How to install the printer

For Windows

  1. Decide which kind of printer file you need:
    1. In the box above, look for the file that starts with NoAuth if you normally log into your computer with your OHIO ID and password.
    2. In the box above, look for the file that starts with YesAuth if you do NOTnormally log into your computer, or if your computer login does not match your OHIO ID and password.
    3. Find and click the link that includes your printer’s building, your planning unit, the room where the printer is located, and the appropriate printer model. 
       
  2. Save the file to a convenient location. 
     
  3. Find and double-click the saved file:
    1. In the resulting window, click Install.
    2. When the install completes, click Finish.
       
  4. If you print to more than one ComDoc printer, visit http://ps1.ohio.edu, click "Uniprint PC Installation Packages,“ and repeat the above steps for each printer you wish to install.
     
  5. Choose a new default printer:
    1. Go to the Windows Start Menu and select “Devices and Printers.”
    2. Right click the entry for your preferred printer and choose “Set as Default Printer.” A check mark will appear by this printer. 
       
  6. Delete your old printer(s) by right-clicking the appropriate icon(s) and choosing “Remove device.”

For Mac

  1. Decide which kind of printer file you need:
    1. Look for files that start with NoAuth if you normally log in with your OHIO ID and password when you start your Mac up.
    2. Look for files that start with YesAuth if do NOT normally log into your Mac, or if your Mac login does not match your OHIO ID and password. 
       
  2. In the box above, find and click the link that includes your building, your planning unit, the room where your printer is located, and the appropriate printer model. 
     
  3. Save the disk image file to a convenient location. Some Macs may not ask you to save the file and will automatically open/mount the disk image for you.
     
  4. Find and double-click the saved disk image file:
    1. Depending on how your Mac is configured, a Finder window may open automatically after you double-click the “dmg” file. If it does not, go to your desktop and double-click the resulting removable drive icon.
    2. Double-click the installer package and follow the on-screen prompts.
       
  5. If you print to more than one ComDoc printer, visit http://ps1.ohio.edu, click "Uniprint MAC Installation Packages “, and repeat the above steps for each printer you wish to install.
     
  6. Open “Print & Scan” in the Hardware section of your Mac’s System Preferences.
     
  7. Confirm that the new printer is set as the default.
     
  8. Delete your old printer(s) by dragging them from the Print & Scan window to the Trash.
