Executive Director

Dr. Berryman has been a member of the Ohio University faculty since 2001 and has played integral roles in a variety of committees at the university.  Dr. Berryman is a graduate of the University of Virginia where she studied biology. After receiving her doctorate from Cornell University in the field of nutritional sciences, she completed her post-graduate training at the University of Northern Colorado's Dietetic Internship program. Currently, she serves as the Executive Director for the Diabetes Institute at Ohio University. Before arriving at the university, Dr. Berryman worked as an assistant professor in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance at Ithaca College.

Melissa Standley serves the Diabetes Institute at Ohio University as Director of Operations having previously acted as the Accountant for the Edison Biotechnology Institute. She received her B.S. in Health Services Administration and her Master's degree in Educational Administration from Ohio University.



Director of Grants and Special Projects

Karie Cook received her Associate Degree of Nursing from Hocking College, Nelsonville, Ohio and finished her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, here at Ohio University. She comes to the DI with experience in grant writing, management, and implementation. Her background also includes clinical and community based nursing along with nursing instruction.  As the Director of Grants and Special Projects, she will work as a strategic team member of the DI to enhance the quality and competitiveness of research and programmatic grants submitted by the institute.


Administrative Specialist

Jody Van Bibber serves the Diabetes Institute at Ohio University as the Administrative Specialist. Jody acts as a liaison to all internal and external contacts, arranges departmental seminars and meetings, and coordinates travel itineraries. She also assists with event planning, communication, and organizing and monitoring grant opportunities.
