Accepted Students

ACRONYMS  

BOOKLISTS

  • All required textbooks are listed on the Heritage College booklist. However, it is recommended that you do not purchase textbooks until you have had a chance to review them.

CASE-BASED LEARNING (CBL)

  • Part of the Clinical Skills course in the CPC curriculum.
  • Small groups of approximately eight students meet on a recurring basis to explore cases and develop clinical reasoning skills.

DISCIPLINE CODES

  • Discipline codes are used on the schedule and in exam questions to give a very general idea of the discipline covered in the learning activity or question

EQUIPMENT

  • Your first term as a Year I medical student will present you with opportunities to expand your knowledge base in a variety of educational environments, including both clinical and classroom settings. To maximize these learning experiences, we ask that you purchase the medical and laboratory equipment listed here.

EXAMS

EVENT SCHEDULING

  • Please use this form to schedule any College event involving students. Failure to comply with student event registration policy results in scheduling conflicts and may cause the even to be cancelled. 

GRADE REPORTS

  • Grade reports are automatically sent to the student's OHIO email account as soon as grades are available.

GROUP/SECTION ASSIGNMENTS

  • For many Heritage College learning activities, the classes are broken into groups of varying sizes. Group names have no particular significance, there are just different group sizes depending on the activity – A and B group are half the class and A1, A2, B1, B2 are quarters, etc.

LEARNING TOPICS (LTS)

  • In the CPC Curriculum, as well as the Clinical Skills and Fundamentals of Clinical Osteopathic Medicine courses, Learning Topics (LTs) broadly characterize what the students are expected to master.

MICROSCOPES AND SLIDES

MODULE/COURSE PREPARATION GUIDE (MPG/CPG) AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The MPG/CPG should be the “go to” document for students to prepare for their week for CPC blocks as well as Clinical Skills and Fundamentals of Clinical Osteopathic Medicine courses. The MPG and CPG associate LTs with learning activities, instructors, disciplines and required readings.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  • Academic affairs policies and procedures outline exam procedures, excused Absences, immunization policies and others.

SCHEDULES AND ATTENDANCE

  • Four master schedules are posted to the web, one for each class and curriculum.
  • Attendance is optional for most CPC lectures. However, attendance is required for many other activities.  Mandatory activities will be marked on the Academic Schedule.

  • Clinical presentation Schema are provided for each CPC module

STUDENT AFFAIRS

SYLLABI

  • Course syllabi are provided each year for Introduction to Primary Care Medicine (IPCM), Clinical Anatomy Immersion (CAI), Medical Knowledge, and Clinical Skills.
  • Syllabi provide information on Instructors of Record, attendance requirements, grade breakdown, etc.
