Our Mission

Sigma Sigma Phi is an Honorary Osteopathic Service Fraternity.

ATHENS

Our objectives and purposes are:

  • To further the Science of Osteopathic Medicine and its standards of practice.
  • To improve the scholastic standing and promote a higher degree of fellowship among its students.
  • To bring about a closer relationship and understanding between the student bodies and the officials and members of the faculties of our colleges.
  • To foster allegiance to the American Osteopathic Association and to perpetuate these principles and the teachings through the maintenance and development of this organization.

Services Provided

ATHENS

Sigma Sigma Phi provides a variety of services to the community, for example, Sigma Sigma Phi has annual partnerships with Good Works and Athens Children’s Services. Most of the events are to raise money or services for charities in the Athens community.   Sigma Sigma Phi members are strongly encouraged to hone their leadership skills in the Heritage College community, holding events that specifically targets fellow medical students, and in this way, further builds strong productive relationships among peers, and within the Heritage College family.

DUBLIN

Sigma Sigma Phi seeks to serve both the local community and HCOM through various philanthropic events held throughout the year. Each member of SSP commits to a minimum of 4-12 hours of service each semester. Additionally, the executive board plans to hold at least one service event each semester to help HCOM students get involved in the community.

  • Group volunteering experience
  • AOA OMED Conference
  • Community Mobile Clinic
  • Free Community Health Clinic
  •  Students helping Students by members of SSP, including free tutoring, workshops, mock practice exams, etc.
  • Philanthropy throughout the Athens community
  • Chipotle Philanthropy Event
  • Jason Madachy Foundation
  • Christmas Giving Tree with Athens' Children’s' Services

Spring Semester Events:

  • At least 1 group volunteering experience
  • Friday Night Life at GoodWorks
  • Students helping Students by members of SSP, including free tutoring, workshops, mock practice exams, etc.
  • Race for a Reason

DUBLIN

  • September - Cleveland Executive Board Meeting, Organization Fair and Recruiting Information Session Fall Service Event
  • October - Sigma Sigma Phi National Conference, Application Review for Fall Inductees

  • February - Induction Ceremony with Athens and Cleveland SIgma Sigma Phi Chapters
