A mentor is someone who has encouraged and fostered your academic accomplishments. He or she should best represent the spirit and the art of your medical education. Each student may choose ONE mentor for Commencement and that mentor must fulfill one of the following criteria:
- Have a doctoral degree in a medical profession (degrees include: D.O., M.D., D.D.S., D.P.M., D.V.M., D.C., D.M.D., O.D.)
- Be an HCOM faculty/staff member holding a doctoral degree, OR
- Be an HCOM clinical campus faculty member holding a doctoral degree.
Unfortunately, peers and classmates cannot serve as mentors. Though they can play a significant role in supporting you throughout your studies, in the spirit of true mentorship we ask you to identify an individual who has been an established member of the professional community who has practiced/worked in their field for a minimum of one year.
