The Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine
Who we are
The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine is a leader in providing a patient-centered, clinically integrated medical education continuum, from pre-medical education to undergraduate medical education, and on through residency training, with an emphasis on primary care. Our focused research and community health programs speak to our commitment to improving health and well-being in our communities and quality of life for our patients.
The state’s only osteopathic medical school, our college was founded in 1975 at Ohio University’s campus in Athens, Ohio, and has since added campus locations in Cleveland and Dublin, Ohio.
Where you'll find us
Whether you find yourself at home in Athens, Cleveland or Dublin, you’ll find every Heritage College campus location shares a singular spirit of collaboration. You’ll share a single learning experience, too. All three locations are linked through advanced video conferencing technology that allows you to learn alongside your peers, regardless of the distance that separates you.
AthensPicture the ideal university campus: shaded pathways, lush greens and red brick. At the Heritage College, Athens, you’ll learn and train in this inspiring setting, alongside students and faculty from around the world, while addressing the needs of neighboring rural communities. You’ll also experience the advantages that come with being on the campus of a major university—world-class facilities and ever-growing research laboratories, abundant interprofessional and service opportunities and numerous extracurricular and academic activities.
ClevelandOur newest campus is a joint initiative with one of the most respected institutions in medicine: Cleveland Clinic. The Heritage College, Cleveland marks a new chapter in our partnership—one that
began 40 years ago. The Cleveland Clinic system has always been a rotation site. Now, it’s much more, with our new campus embedded within Cleveland Clinic’s South Pointe Hospital in Warrensville Heights. Plus, you’ll be part of a city known for history, culture, beautiful parks and a multitude of entertainment venues.
DublinThe Heritage College, Dublin is just minutes from downtown Columbus, home to some of Ohio’s most respected health care providers, including OhioHealth, our preeminent education partner for the site. This region is home to a vibrant culture with plenty of arts, cuisine, shopping, metro parks and festivals to go around. But perhaps more important is the sheer range of settings and communities you’ll
experience in a part of Ohio with historic neighborhoods, growing suburbs and rolling farmland—all within 10 miles of the city center.
