Who We Are
About our faculty
The Department of Specialty Medicine, established in 1990, consists of certified osteopathic (D.O.) and medical (M.D.) physicians in different specialty areas such as general surgery, internal medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, pathology, psychiatry, radiology, diabetes/ endocrinology and dermatology. DSM faculty members teach the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine medical students in the classroom and in the clinical setting throughout the year, serving the local community by providing medical services and conducting medical research. Faculty have academic offices located in Parks Hall and the Academic Research Center with clinic offices located at Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville (OhioHealth), at Parks Hall (Ohio University campus), 542 Union Street and the Castrop Center in Athens.
