The expansion of the Heritage College into Central Ohio created opportunities to enhance community engagement, seed excitement in the next generation, and cultivate the pipeline of healthcare professionals. Focused on reimagining educational approaches to careers in healthcare, OU+REACH focuses on fostering learning across the educational continuum, enabling career exploration and professional growth, and providing opportunities for leadership through service learning. OU+REACH is designed as a year-long career exploration program that begins with a three-day summer camp followed by enrichment activities held quarterly in the academic year that follows. The three-day camp and subsequent activities are held on the Ohio University-Dublin campus home to the latest learning technologies, clinical simulation center, high-tech clinical examination rooms, and anatomy laboratory. Program activities include classroom instruction, team-based projects, hands-on clinical experiences, and work with simulated patients. By design, participants have the opportunity to work directly with current medical and health professional students and clinicians during their campus visits.
