Undergraduate Majors

Ohio University's nine undergraduate colleges offer more than 250 programs of study. Students may select from a wide variety of majors, minors and certificates. While most undergraduate programs at the Athens campus are designed to be completed in four years, a limited number of two-year degree programs are available as well.

Program Overview

The environmental engineering technology (EVT) curriculum may be pursued on either a full-time or part-time basis with day and evening classes available. Students typically start fall semester, but may enter the program at any point during the academic calendar. Part-time students may pursue the degree at a rate they desire; however, a minimum of 6 hours of course work each semester is recommended. In all, students completing the degree requirements will earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in environmental engineering technology.

Opportunities Upon Graduation

Should students wish to continue their academic studies, they can pursue a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental health, industrial hygiene, technical and applied studies, applied management, and specialized studies.

Program Learning Outcomes

In alignment with industry standards and expectations, upon completion of the environmental engineering technology major, students will be able to:

  • Identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems.
  • Analyze and model environmental systems by applying mathematics, basic science, technology, and engineering.
  • Design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data for problem-solving.
  • Use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for environmental engineering practice.
  • Design and realize an environmental system or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints, such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
  • Understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and social context.
