The Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies (B.T.A.S.), offered on all five regional campuses, and through OHIO Online in both an online and print based option, is primarily intended for students who have already completed two years from an accredited community college, accredited regional campus/university, or an accredited technical college and who wish to pursue a baccalaureate degree. The program provides students with the practical application of knowledge and skills necessary for advancement in their chosen careers and integrates the technical skills developed during the first two years with the professional skills instilled in a bachelor's degree program. A completion degree, the BTAS utilizes 60 semester hours of college credit, of which a minimum of 24 semester hours must be in a technical field. If students do not have 24 credits in a technical field upon admission, they may/must complete those through electives once admitted. A minimum of 120 hours is needed to meet the requirements for a baccalaureate degree. As part of the 120 credits, students must meet Ohio University general education requirements and the BTAS major requirements, which is 30 credit hours of major coursework. Students must complete all TAS courses with a "C" or better, maintain a 2.0 g.p.a. overall and within the major, and meet the upper division requirement of 30 credits at the 3000/4000 level, which students will satisfy through the major coursework. Elective hours may be required to reach 120 credit hours.
