Ohio University Lancaster and the Lancaster Thunder basketball team have announced a new partnership that will make Ohio University Lancaster the official home venue for the Thunder.
“We’re thrilled to share our space with the Thunder,” said Jarrod Tudor, Dean of Campus and Community Relations at OHIO Lancaster. “This is just the beginning of what I hope will lead to more activities and events on the Lancaster campus this year.”
“We couldn’t be happier,” said Thunder owner, David Fant. “OHIO Lancaster is one of the best facilities in the area. The players love it and we can’t wait for our fans to be there. We are very grateful to Dean Tudor and Athletic Director Whitehead for working tirelessly to get this deal done. Without them, this partnership doesn’t occur.”
“Feels like home,” added Thunder marketing and media coordinator, Michael Johnson. “It’s been a difficult year dealing with Covid and finding places willing to let us play. Ohio University Lancaster has made us feel welcome. They have been so accommodating and it’s a great feeling.”
The partnership offered the Thunder the ability to join a brand new spring/summer league called the Professional Basketball Association (PBA). The PBA consists of 66 teams across the country. The regular season begins in May and ends in August. It will be followed by playoffs and an all-star game.
Lancaster will begin their season on May 8 against the Elkhart (IN) Mavericks. The game will take place at Ohio University Lancaster and tip-off is at 6:00 pm.
Tickets will be sold online only at LancasterThunderBB.com.
No tickets will be sold at the gate and capacity will be set at 25% due to Covid restrictions.
