Lancaster – Donation boxes will be lining the hallways at the Ohio University Lancaster Campus and Pickerington Center. That's because two student organizations are trying to help others in need this holiday season.
Members of Lambda Pi Eta are conducting a "Support Your Troops Supply Drive" in honor of an Ohio University Lancaster Alum. Tommy Spellman graduated and is now stationed overseas.
"Tommy graduated last spring. He was a Communication Studies major. He got shipped overseas and won't be home for holidays," said Lambda Pi Eta Advisor Dr. Nikki Blau, Assistant Professor of Communication Studies. "We're going to collect a list of supplies that Tommy says troops need the most and send them."
Spellman was an Ohio University Lancaster Student of the Month in February, 2012. He is now stationed in Kosovo. Spellman said hand and feet warmers are the number one thing troops need. Other items include things many take for granted, like Tylenol, cough drops and body wash.
