July 18, 2017 : DIY Network’s Barnwood Builders set partially at Ohio University Lancaster will air Sunday

Bridge picOhio University Lancaster’s historic John Bright Number 2 Covered Bridge was the setting for a segment on the television series Barnwood Builders set to air for the first time on DIY Network this Sunday, July 23rd at 9pm EST.

"The bridge is a significant part of Lancaster’s history and the campus history,” said Andy Ellinger, Manager of Marketing and Communications for Ohio University Lancaster. “We are happy to share its historic beauty and our beautiful Lancaster campus with a national audience."

The bridge, which is listed with the U.S. Parks Department on its Registry of Historic Places, was built in 1881 and has a rare reverse bowstring style truss. It originally spanned Poplar Creek near Carroll, but it was relocated to the Ohio University Lancaster Campus for preservation in April of 1988.

The episode entitled “Barn Storming: A Wild Takedown in Pleasantville, Ohio" began filming 7 miles north of the campus and traveled to OUL for additional footage. Once they arrived on the campus, the covered bridge shoot with series regulars Mark Bowe and Johnny Jett was expanded and the segment appears about 33 minutes into the episode, according to producers of the show.

Once the episode has aired, it’ll have repeat showings on the channel and will be available online at The episode will also be available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon.

Barnwood Builders follows five fun-loving West Virginians who salvage antique log cabins and barns. The show celebrates the American pioneer spirit, and pays tribute to the hard work and craftsmanship that built our nation. The series crew includes: Mark Bowe, host of DIY Network’s Barnwood Builders, the machine operator, Johnny Jett; Tim Rose, the beam lifter; the foreman of the crew Sherman Thompson; and the youngest, next generation builder, Graham Ferguson.
