October 02, 2019 : Career Closet: An Easy and Accessible Solution

by Dylan James

careerclosetDuring the upcoming Spring semester, a new student-centered initiative is set to debut at Ohio University Lancaster. Career Closet, aiming to provide students with business attire both professional and casual, will become another available resource that students can utilize to better themselves and their careers.

Brandy Bailey, Career Coach at Ohio University Lancaster, is leading the charge in Career Closet’s newfound implementation. “Ohio University’s Athens Campus offers a Career Closet for their students,” Bailey says, “so I thought, why not here! Many local students in the area are not going to drive to Athens to access the resource down there, even though it is an option available to them. Ohio University Lancaster’s Career Closet is going to be an accessible, on-campus resource for all students.”

By Spring semester, students will be able to schedule appointments to shop Career Closet through Handshake, and, they will also be able to stop by Student Services located on the third floor of Brasee Hall for walk-in shopping. From there, students will look through available clothing and even try on items if needed as a changing area will be provided. Thanks to ongoing donations, clothing provided by Career Closet will be entirely free and all items can be kept by students for future use.

Bailey stresses the importance of Career Closet for students amidst the busy lives they lead. “Ultimately, I hope the Career Closet becomes a well-used resource for students that is accessible and meets their needs. As busy as students can be, there is not always the time, resources, or knowledge to know what, where, and how to buy business professional and business casual clothing. So, the goal of the Career Closet is to alleviate all of those factors!”

If you’re in need of career clothing Spring semester, Career Closet will provide you with quality, convenient clothing for no cost at all.
