May 23, 2016 : Kids in College Registration Underway

by Hannah Ellinger, Marketing Intern

Kids in College at Ohio University Lancaster is currently accepting registrations. Now in its 37th year, the program provides an opportunity for 4th to 9th grade students to reinforce the knowledge and instruction they received in school. Some of the class topics focus on forensics science, art, astronomy, dinosaurs, chemistry, culinary skills, math, music, history and sports.

“There are a wide variety of wonderful courses to choose from, each designed to be a 'hands-on' experience for students,” said Kids in College Coordinator Maryann Lape.

The classes are held in two separate sessions.  There is a morning session from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and an afternoon session from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.  There is a supervised lunch period from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students can attend just one or two weeks of classes or they can attend all three weeks.

Class enrollment is limited so that students receive individual attention.  Parents should accompany their child to registration on the first day of the program. The program will run the weeks of June 13 through July 1.

Registration may be completed by mail or in person at the Ohio University Lancaster Campus, Community and Corporate Learning Office, 1570 Granville Pike, Lancaster, OH 43130.  Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Except 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.) Monday through Friday. Registration costs $85 per class plus lab fees. Registration includes a free t-shirt for each student participant. For more information or the registration form visit
