“The Celebrate Women conference is a full day of enlightening sessions - in health, business, professional, and social issues for women of all ages,” said Pamela A. Kaylor, Ph.D., Communication Studies/Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies for Ohio University Lancaster, “Last year, we sold out quickly, so we encourage attendees to register early.The committee has been having so much fun with the Superhero theme.”

The 2018 Celebrate Women Conference is scheduled for Friday, March 23, 2018  with a conference theme of "Recognizing our Superpowers." This superhero theme features four keynote speakers:

Michelle Poler, Founder of "Hello Fears"

Michelle Poler is an international inspirational and motivational speaker who addresses organizations and companies around the world on the topic of facing fears. In addition to hosting the YouTube/Podcast series "Dear Younger Self," Ms. Poler is the founder of "Hello Fears," a platform through which every-day people can inspire every-day people with stories of courage.

Colleen Marshall, Columbus News Anchor and Attorney

Colleen Marshall combines the practice of law with her work as an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist. In addition to her family law practice at Massucci Law Group, Colleen is co-anchor of Columbus’ NBC4 television news and host of the weekly political program, NBC4’s "The Spectrum."

 

Carolyn Cocca, Eisner Award-winning Author, "Superwomen: Gender, Power & Representation"

coccaCarolyn Cocca is an Associate Professor of Politics, Economics & Law at the State University of New York – Old Westbury. Cocca’s book "Superwomen: Gender, Power & Representation" explores how women superheroes are changing the way we think about contemporary femininity.

 

Paige Gutheil, D.O., Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine

Dr. Paige Gutheil is an osteopathic family physician in central Ohio and alumna turned faculty at the Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.  She has been honored as Ohio’s American College of Family Physician’s Young Physician of the Year.  She is passionate about reviving patients’ relationships with trusted holistic primary care doctors and community outreach through her practice of medicine, teaching, blogging and speaking.

Now in its 12th year and organized by Ohio University Lancaster faculty, staff, and students, the Celebrate Women Conference aims to bridge women’s relationships in areas of community, university and professions. The committee works with local and partnering organizations each year, including ADAMH, Fairfield Medical Center, OhioHealth, the Ohio University Alumni Association, ohiowomen, and ohiowomen in medicine.  The conference theme, "Recognizing our Superpowers" will focus on presentations by more than thirty speakers, a Celebrate Women luncheon, and opportunities for information booths, continuing education credits, and networking.
