May 30, 2013 : Disabilities Mural Will Remain on Display at OUL Until 2015

Communications and Marketing Manager

Lancaster - The Americans with Disabilities Act 20th anniversary mural entitled "Liberty, Justice and Access for All" will remain on display at Ohio University Lancaster for another two years. It has been on display in the north lobby area of the Hannah V. McCauley Library upper level since August 2011.

The 6-by-30 foot mural was created to help raise awareness about art and disability issues and was taken on a tour around the state. Twelve artists with disabilities from around the state -- including some from Lancaster -- collaborated for about 35 hours in July 2010 to create the mural, which was assembled by master muralist Kong Ho. The mural was unveiled at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus during the 20th Anniversary of the ADA Celebration.

A new two-year display agreement between VSA Ohio and Ohio University Lancaster was recently signed which means the mural will now be at OUL until August 2015. OUL was originally selected by VSA Ohio to display the mural in 2011 because of its commitment to access and inclusion.
