Lancaster – Ohio University Lancaster Dean Jim Smith has a new title, but it's one that is only temporary. Smith is still the dean at the Lancaster Campus, but he's also the acting dean at Ohio University Zanesville for the summer.
Former Zanesville Dean Dr. Richard Greenlee retired on June 30. So, while the search for a new dean continues, Smith is stepping into the dean role at Zanesville.
"I am already enjoying my work with faculty and staff on the Zanesville Campus," said Smith. "I am happy to help out in this situation."
Smith will spend one day a week on the Zanesville Campus during his time in the dual role.
"My role is to keep the campus moving forward during this time of transition," said Smith."I also think it will be good for me to see how another regional campus in the Ohio University system operates. I think we will all learn new things from each other."
Smith has been dean of the Lancaster Campus since 2010. He came from Bowling Green State University's Firelands Campus where he had served as interim dean and associate dean.
