October 08, 2014 : SLIDESHOW: Lancaster Campus L.E.A.D. Program Leads the Way during 13th Year
- Cheri Russo
Communications and Marketing Manager

Lancaster – Ohio University Lancaster | Pickerington’s Leadership Enhancement Acquisition Delegation (L.E.A.D.) will be learning about managing service projects and event planning during an all-day seminar this Friday.
“OUL Management Professor Brian Hoyt will be discussing the process of managing service projects,” said L.E.A.D. Advisor Candice Thomas-Maddox. “I’ll facilitate the afternoon discussion on meeting/event planning.”
Each Spring Semester, applications are accepted from students who are interested in earning academic credit while gaining valuable leadership skills.  A team is selected at the end of the academic year to participate beginning in Fall Semester of the following school year.
“We have a fantastic group of 12 students who are part of the 2014-2015 L.E.A.D. Team,” said Thomas-Maddox. “The courses are designed to provide students with valuable leadership and team-building skills which will assist them in assuming leadership roles in campus and community organizations.  When we started L.E.A.D., we had two student organizations at OUL. Over the years, it has grown to 19.”
In September, the team worked with Summit Vision focusing on team-building initiatives.  Students also spent an afternoon session learning about the five levels of leadership.
“We’re now in our 13th year with more than 200 alumni of the OUL/OUPC L.E.A.D. Program,” said Thomas Maddox.
All students are eligible to apply for L.E.A.D.  There are no GPA or major requirements necessary. Students participate in four Friday seminars throughout the year and earn a total of two credits for the entire year.  Seminars are facilitated by OUL faculty, staff, and administrators. Seminars are held at both the Lancaster Campus and the Pickerington Center.  The October 10 seminar will be held in Lancaster.
