July 15, 2016 : Ohio University’s Pickerington Center to Offer In-Demand Real Estate Classes

Individuals wanting to earn licensure in Ohio’s real-estate industry can begin the required coursework at Ohio University’s Pickerington Center this fall.  The Pickerington Center is offering all four of the Real Estate classes required to sit for the State examination. Two will be offered this fall with classes beginning August 22. The remaining two classes will be offered in the spring semester.


“There has been a lot of demand for these classes,” said Leigh Atkinson, Ph. D., Director of Ohio University’s Pickerington Center, “so they are expected to fill up quickly.”


Real Estate Principles and Practices and Real Estate Appraising will be offered this fall on Monday and Wednesday evenings:


Real Estate Principles and Practices - Real property is basic resource with which real estate professionals work. Course includes, but is not limited to, land and its description, rights and interests in real estate, contract law and real estate contracts, title transfer, deeds, leases, financing and mortgages, taxes, home ownership, urban planning, brokerage operations, appraisal and value, applied real estate math, and Ohio requirements for real estate licenses.


Real Estate Appraising - Overview of the field of real estate appraisal in Ohio. Introduces the function of the appraisal profession, licensing requirements in Ohio, process of real estate appraisal, and primary methods used to appraise real estate.
