Lancaster - There will soon be a change in management at the Ohio University Lancaster Campus bookstore, but the change will be seamless for students. Follett's bookstore is closing after six years on the Lancaster Campus. Ohio University Auxiliaries will run the new bookstore which will be called Bobcat Essentials.
'It is my hope that the change will not be noticeable to students," said Bookstore Manager Susan Thomas. "We will still sell all the things we do now.The new bookstore will buy back the books students purchased from Follett's." Thomas is the current manager of the Follett's bookstore and will also be the manager of the new Bobcat Essentials.
Bobcat Essentials will sell Ohio University logo apparel, school supplies, snacks and course textbooks. The last day the Follett's bookstore will be open is Friday, March 22. The bookstore will reopen as Bobcat Essentials on April 1.
"If students have rental books, they still must return them," said Thomas."They are still bound by the rental contract.Rental books must be returned to Bobcat Essentials by May 6."
In the future, Bobcat Essentials will host a website that features online ordering. Students will have the ability to access their financial aid for qualified bookstore purchases. These new opportunities will benefit the campus and give students another great resource to meet their educational needs.
"We will work with students to help them out in any way we can," said Thomas. 'We are going to do everything we can to make this an easy and smooth transition for the entire campus."
Thomas said book buyback will not occur until after the transition is made to Bobcat Essentials.
