Lancaster – The OUL Theatre spring production opens this Friday, and there’s a special treat in store on opening night.  OUL Faculty members will be part of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
“The show involves audience participation, and on the first night those audience participants will be some OUL faculty members,” said OUL Theatre Director Victor Jones. “Mathematics Associate Professor Franco Guerriero, Communication Studies Professor Candice Thomas-Maddox, Computer Science Technology Associate Professor Christine Wolfe, and Adjunct Theatre Instructor Robert Cooperman will be the guest spellers on opening night.”
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a musical comedy and promises to be fun for all who attend. It examines the personal lives, triumphs and struggles of a group of teenagers preparing for their annual spelling bee.
“There is a list of words we have.  Some of them are ridiculous.  Some of them are old words that no one even knows the meaning of,” said Theatre Student Jesse Cunningham. “The OUL professors and audience participants on other nights should be prepared for anything.”
The show runs April 17 – 26 on the weekends. Opening night tickets are $7.00.  You can purchase tickets by going to
“It is a very fun show,” said Theatre Student Tommy Robinson. “I would encourage everyone to come out and see the show.”
