October 22, 2014 : Theatre Classes Popular in the 60 + Program at OUL
- Cheri Russo
Communications and Marketing Manager

Lancaster – Theatre classes at Ohio University Lancaster aren’t just for young aspiring actors.  Adults participating in the 60 + program at OUL are taking the classes and having a great time.

The 60 + program gives senior citizens in the community a chance to take college classes for free.  Anyone over the age of 60 can take a regular credit class for non-credit. The program is run by Ohio University Lancaster’s Community and Corporate Learning Office.

“Half of the people we have participating in 60 + are enrolled our theatre classes,” said Community and Corporate Learning Administrative Coordinator Maryann Lape. “The History classes are also popular with the 60 + participants.”

The program allows those over the age of 60 to participate in any class.  The only requirements are that there has to be room available in the class and the instructor has to agree to it.

“It’s a great opportunity for seniors to get back in the classroom,” said Lape. “They can learn a few things they didn’t know before and not have to worry about a grade.”

Registration for the 60 + Program takes place a few days before the beginning of each semester.  Spring Semester begins January 12. For more information: call Lape at 740.681.2641 or email her at lape@ohio.edu.
