- Cheri Russo
Communications and Marketing Manager

Lancaster – A new commercial for Ohio University Lancaster | Pickerington tells the story of two graduates who have used their degrees to make their communities better places to live.  The Imagine Your Possibilities video commercial is currently featured on the OUL website and its YouTube page

Cody Sarensen“The commercial tells the stories of graduates Cody Sarensen and Jeani Allen.  Both former OUL students are using their degrees in our community to do great things,” said OUL Dean Dr. Jim Smith. “Cody started ‘No Limits Basketball,’ a basketball camp for children with and without disabilities. Jeani works at Lancaster High School and implemented the school’s groundbreaking Ipad program, which assigned each student their own Ipad to use for his or her school work.  We’re proud of both of these students and are excited to feature them in our commercial.”

The commercial was produced by WOUB.  WOUB and OUL worked together over the last several months to get footage of many different events and time periods on campus.

“We wanted to capture as much of the vibrancy of the campus as possible, while telling the story of our academic programs, arts and cultural events, student organizations and student success,” said OUL Communications and Marketing Manager Cheri Russo.

“I was honored to be featured in the OUL commercial,” said Allen.  “Ohio University Lancaster | Jeani AllenPickerington had a large role in where I am today. It’s great to give back to the university in this way.”

“I was able to get an affordable college education close to where I grew up,” said Sarensen. “OUL and its professors and administrators worked with me to achieve my goal of starting a basketball camp for children with and without disabilities. I was glad to be asked to be part of the commercial.”

“The Lancaster Campus offers opportunity and access to higher education in our region. There are so many possibilities when they come through our doors. Seeing how they are using that opportunity to help others in their communities makes me tremendously proud,” said Smith. “That’s what it’s all about.”

A monthly feature posted to the website also tells the story of former students who are doing great things in their communities with their OUL degree.  You can read those stories by clicking here.
