Pickerington – The Ohio University Pickerington Center has its own television channel. But, you cannot find it on a traditional television set.The station is online. The Pickerington Center is part of a community website called "Pickerington TV."
"We think it's a wonderful opportunity to showcase the things going on at Ohio University's Pickerington Center and Lancaster Campus in this new and exciting way," said Pickerington Center Director Leigh Atkinson.
A Gahanna production company, SOH Productions, runs the site. The company has launched several community websites around the Columbus area in recent months.Pickeringtontv.com launched in December.
"Community television has been around for years," said SOH Productions President Ron Smith. "This is just moving that concept online and into the digital age, where people all around the country can watch what is going on in local communities."
Several other groups in Pickerington have "channels" on Pickerington TV. They include the City of Pickerington, the chamber of commerce, the Violet Township Trustees, the local school district and the area library.
The first video that is on the Ohio University Pickerington Channel is about the history of the center and what students can achieve by taking classes at the Pickerington Center. Future videos will talk about the financial aid process, student organizations and activities going on at both the Pickerington Center and Lancaster Campus.
"We hope community members and potential students will watch the videos on Pickerington TV and learn about the wonderful opportunities available in the community through Ohio University," said Atkinson.
