We are soliciting self- and other-nominations for outstanding speakers to do

50-minute workshops/sessions or panel presentations with 3-4 speakers on a

variety of topics related to women for our 13th annual conference.

The purpose of the Celebrate Women conference: to encourage and enhance gender

equity by honoring the past, present, and potential accomplishments of women from

diverse ages, ethnicities and backgrounds through education, enlightenment and

inspiration.  The event is planned in conjunction with Women’s History Month. 

The focus of the event is to bridge women’s relationships from the areas of

community, university and business.  The conference agenda includes a full day of

speakers and panel presentations on a variety of women’s issues.

EileenCollinsNASA Astronaut Col. Eileen Collins reveals an encouraging perspective and insight on the leadership skills needed to break barriers and become a successful pioneer in your field.  Col. Collins will share “Leadership Lessons from Apollo to Discovery”.

Keynote speaker • Dr. Chawne Kimber, Artist/Mathematician

The powerful artwork of Artist Chawne Kimber will be on display throughout the day.  Kimber’s provocative art quilts address issues of race, language, and women’s rights.  A scholar, blogger, and celebrity in the quilting world, Dr. Kimber will discuss her work as a social justice advocate through her art.

Now in its 13th year and organized by Ohio University Lancaster faculty, staff, and students, the Celebrate Women Conference aims to bridge women’s relationships in areas of community, university and professions. The conference theme, "Challenge. Lead. Succeed!" will focus on presentations by more than twenty speakers, a Celebrate Women luncheon, and opportunities for information booths, continuing education credits, and networking.
