Academic Advisor

 

The Ohio University Lancaster Campus invites applicants for the part-time position of Academic Advisor (32 hours per week). The chosen applicant will provide academic advising to a full advising load of undecided undergraduate and College Credit Plus (dual enrollment high school) students.  Collaborate with supervisor to plan, implement and assess special projects that help fulfill the mission of the Lancaster Campus. Advising responsibilities include working with undecided, undeclared, associate’s degree and bachelor’s degree students; provide information and assistance regarding exploration and selection of major to undecided students and employ Appreciative Advising methodology and foster a welcoming and supportive advising relationship.  They will assist students in the selection of courses each academic term and provide academic advising for College Credit Plus students.  They will also assist with or lead projects to benefit the Lancaster Campus and enhance the educational experience.

 

A Bachelor’s degree in Academic Advising, College Student Personnel or related field with at least one year of experience in academic advising, counseling, education or related field is required.  A master’s degree is preferred.  Must have excellent communication skills to work effectively with diverse groups. Computers skills are necessary.

 

The Ohio University Lancaster Campus is a regional campus located approximately 25 miles south-east of Columbus and 45 miles from the main campus in Athens. Over 2,400 traditional and nontraditional students enroll each semester in degree programs located in Lancaster or its Pickerington Center. The Ohio University Lancaster community strives to create an educational and cultural environment in which students refine their abilities to reason and communicate clearly, so as to become responsible citizens in a diverse world.
