Southern Local School District

Southern Local currently has two afterschool programs, one at the elementary and the other at the middle school. The elementary program operates at Millcreek Elementary serving children from kindergarten through sixth grade. This program is funded by a 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant through the Ohio Department of Education. The program now serves over 85 students. In addidition to the turoring and extra help from elementary teachers, students are also receiving a nutritous snack, math and reading intervention, and academic enrichment activities.

The High school program is funded through 21 st  Century funds as well serving students in grades 7 through 12. Students receive a snack and some free time directly after school to transition into the program. Students participate in study tables for 75 minutes prior to spending time in clubs of their choosing.
