At the fifth annual OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital Race for a Reason, three CHSP affiliated teams raised more than $1,600 for their individual causes. On Saturday, April 22 CHSP’s four teams—CHSP Women for Recovery, Fourplay! Quad Rugby, Kids on Campus and the CHSP James Ball Scholarship—hope to expand on their previous success at the 2017 Race for a Reason.

Race for a Reason, Southeast Ohio’s largest charity-based race, lets OHIO students and Athens community members fundraise for the causes, or “reasons,” that matter most to them. CHSP students and affiliated groups have found plenty to race for.

“The level of participation and excitement around events like Race for a Reason exemplifies our college’s commitment to the community at large,” Rebecca Miller, college director for community outreach, said.

Kids on Campus  is a rural community-university partnership empowering underserved, at-risk children and their families to reach their full potential through educational, nutritional and recreational opportunities.

Participants may choose from a variety of events including the College of Health Sciences and Professions Triathlon, which begins at the Ohio University Aquatic Center and takes participants  out of town on a newly completed strip of the Hockhocking Adena Bike Path, the OHIO ROTC sponsored 4.5-mile ‘mud run, and the comparatively tame 5K or 3K walk.
