Joining a fraternity or sorority is often referred to as a "mutual selection process." While potential new members are getting information about the over 30 organizations on campus, the current members of the organization are getting to know the potential new members! There will definitely be a fit for you with one of our organizations, you just need to attend one of the many recruitment or intake events. Please visit the "Our Organizations" page to find out more information about the specific organizations and chapters on our campus, or visit Ohio University on OrgSync to get more information.
The Interfraternity Council hosts several information events to help potential members understand the recruitment process. Individual organizations will then host their own events, and potential members may choose to visit as many or as few organizations as they wish throughout the week. The Interfraternity Council executive board then hosts a values presentation and bid distribution event for potential members. To learn more information or register for recruitment, please visit the IFC Website.
The Multicultural Greek Council and National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations will host their own individual interest meetings and membership selection/intake processes throughout the academic year. Interested members can learn more about NPHC organizations by attending the Meet the Greeks event in September:
The Women's Panhellenic Association hosts a formal recruitment process every Fall semester on the weekends typically following Labor Day. The process involves several optional information sessions, followed by the first event called "Kickoff," where potential members will receive an overview of the process and meet their Rho Gamma (stands for recruitment guide, similar to an Orientation Leader). After Kickoff, potential members will meet all 10 sororities, and each round of recruitment receive invitations to visit organizations before potentially receiving one invitation for membership on Bid Day. Registration for this process is required and can be completed by visiting the WPA website.
