General Information

Fraternities and sororities are at their core are values-based organizations based on a lifetime commitment to develop members to be dedicated to the principles of scholarship, leadership, service, philanthropy, and brotherhood/sisterhood. We demonstrate this throughout our undergraduate careers by maintaining a higher average GPA than the all-university average. We provide opportunities for leadership development through serving as chapter or council officers who manage everything from recruitment events, budgets and finances, and large and small scale event planning. We give our students conference and development opportunities not accessible to the typical student – ones focused on the ideas of making the fraternity and sorority community better and developing our members into leaders. Furthermore, we recognize our privilege as undergraduate students and give back to our communities through record-breaking service, volunteer, and philanthropic opportunities.

The fraternity and sorority community has existed at Ohio University for over 160 years. We currently have 30+ recognized fraternities and sororities with 2,000+ affiliated students. Our chapters are overseen by 4 self-governing councils:  Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and  Women's Panhellenic Association (WPA)

We post information and updates on this website and make announcements through our Facebook fan page ( Ohio University Sorority & Fraternity Life ) and you can follow us on Twitter ( @OhioU_GreekLife ).
