Provost Award for Excellence in Teaching

The inaugural recipient of the Provost Award for Excellence in Teaching for 2017–2019 is Dr. Klaus Himmeldirk, senior lecturer in chemistry and biochemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences.

The Charles J. Ping Institute for the Teaching of the Humanities

The Ping Institute endowment provides funding for three named chairs: the Charles J. Ping Professor of Humanities, the J. Richard Hamilton/Baker & Hostetler Professor of Humanities, and the James S. Reid/Standard Products Company Professor of Humanities. The current Distinguished Teaching Professors of the Ping Institute are Fred Drogula, Charles J. Ping Professor of Humanities, Director of the Ping Institute, Professor of Classics; William F. Condee, J. Richard Hamilton/Baker & Hostetler Professor of Humanities and Professor of Interdisciplinary Arts; and Linda Rice, James S. Reid/Standard Products Company Professor of Humanities and Professor of English.

Lisa Haven, professor of English at the Zanesville Campus, received the 2017 Regional Higher Education Outstanding Professor Award.

Dean’s Outstanding Teacher (College of Arts and Sciences)

Carl Brune, professor of physics and astronomy, received the College of Arts and Sciences’ Dean’s Outstanding Teacher Award in 2013.

Jeanette G. Grasselli Brown Faculty Teaching (College of Arts and Sciences)

Rebecca Barlag, associate lecturer and director of B.S. forensic chemistry, and Chester Pach, associate professor of history, received a Jeanette G. Grasselli Brown Faculty Teaching Award in 2017.
