The following software packages are available for download and purchase (as indicated). All software has been developed and is maintained by the Lab or the author as indicated.

Alien RFID Wedge - $75USD

This software is a variation on the traditional bar coding software wedge and will allow the user to control and capture RFID tags that are within range of an Alien RFID reader. At this point, support for Alien's 9780, 9800 and 9900 have been confirmed, however it should work with the 9680 and the 8800 without any problems.

The software reads all of the present tags and places them in the keyboard buffer of the connected computer allowing whatever application that has focus to be able to accept data from the RFID reader. This will allow users to develop custom applications that do not directly rely on the RFID communications link. Applications such as web interfaces or data collection into MS-Word, MS-Excel or MS-Access will directly benefit from this software.

RFID Attendance Solution

We have recently finished developing an RFID based attendance application for in-house use. It is designed to work with SQL Server and an Alien RFID reader (9650, 9780, 9800, 9900). To date, we are getting 98%-100% read rates as students walk into the classroom. RFID tags are in their bags, books and wallets. At this point it is a service that runs on one of our computers. We also have a basic screen that shows the students who the system last saw, so that they know they were checked in.

If you would be interested in obtaining a copy of this, please contact us at autoid@ohio.edu. If there is enough demand, this software can be cleaned up and made available for a resonable fee. If you would like a copy of the "rough draft", I can work with you.
