Know India Contest

The Friends of India Endowment arranged a "Know India Contest" each year. The contest which is administered to sixth grade students across Southeast Ohio brings pride to students of Indian origin about their heritage and provides knowledge about Indian history, culture, and diversity to their fellow students.

The Friends of India Endowment sends the sixth grade teachers booklets and test papers on India for the number of students that are participating in the contest. Students then read the booklet with additional discussion provided by the teacher. The teacher will administer the test, two to four weeks after the distribution of the booklets.

The top-three winners from each school are awarded cash prizes and each participating school is given $100 to purchase educational materials about India for their libraries. The winners are honored at the annual Indo-American Friendship Day and are invited to share about their experience.

If you would like to provide an excellent opportunity for your children and other students to learn about India or are interested in sponsoring the "Know India Contest" in your area school, please contact Dr. Rajindar K. Koshal at as soon as possible for further information.
