New Prescription Drug Management Programs Begin July 1

The following was emailed to benefits eligible employees on May 3, 2017.

Good Afternoon,

This week, Express Scripts began mailing letters to the homes of employees impacted by the university’s prescription drug Advanced Utilization Management programs.

The Advanced Utilization Management program includes Drug Quantity Management, Step Therapy, and Prior Authorization.

These programs require additional information from a prescribing physician in order for certain prescriptions to be covered and paid for by the university’s health plans.

If you receive a letter, you should contact your prescribing physician and request that they reach out to Express Scripts to provide the information required for your prescription. Failure to respond or take action will result in a prescription not being covered by the health plan starting July 1, 2017.

Express Scripts will be sending reminder notifications beginning in June.
