Search Committee Training

University Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion, and the office of Equity and Civil Rights Compliance have partnered and recently released a Search Committee Training and toolkit with a focus on not only diverse, but also inclusive faculty and staff searches. The foundational training consists of two two-hour modules, which focus on the entire search process including establishing search committees, creating recruiting plans, and evaluating candidates. Those who participate in the live training will also be given additional resources through ongoing outreach and learning opportunities!

  • Upcoming Module 1 Sessions -  Module 1 is geared towards search committee chairs and focuses on establishing inclusive search committees, introducing bias, and writing inclusive job descriptions and recruitment plans.

  • Upcoming Module 2 Sessions – Module 2 is geared towards search committee members and focuses on inclusive candidate evaluation and selection processes and discusses the impact of bias during these stages.

Your HR Liaison can also arrange sessions for individual units and departments.  Please contact your HR Liaison to arrange a training.

Search Firms
Search firms are traditionally only utilized for executive level positions.  However, under special circumstances, units may seek to explore utilization of search firms for particularly unique or hard to fill positions. Please contact your HR Liaison or Nick Wortman, Director of HR Services at wortmann@ohio.edu for more information and guidance.
