Washington Hall alumni reflect on recently renovated Bobcat home away from home

A longtime fixture on Ohio University’s scenic and historic East Green, Washington Hall has been a welcoming place for generations of students who found their first Bobcat home away from home within its brick walls. This fall, the residence hall welcomed a new cohort of Bobcats through its doors after a yearlong renovation that included full makeovers for the building’s multi-user restrooms and the addition of single-user restrooms, a community kitchen and study spaces.

National studies have shown that the first seven weeks of fall semester is critical to students developing their sense of belonging at an institution, and Ohio University is no exception to this. As a division, Student Affairs has been discussing how to increase the student sense of belonging, and Housing and Residence Life is working to be a part of the solution through high-impact programming initiatives designed to engage students in building relationships with other Bobcats, campus partners, and the institution as a whole.

HRL Foundation Supports Professional Development Opportunity for Graduate Student

“When I first started work as a hall director, addressing student conduct intimidated me. At the time, I thought the process was more of a punishment than an educational opportunity for students,” shared OHIO Graduate Resident Director Michael Brannigan.
