Substance Misuse

Substance misuse is the harmful use of substances for non-medical purposes. The term “substance misuse” often refers to illegal or “street” drugs. However, legal substances can also be misused. These substances include prescription medications, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine and volatile substances such as glue, petrol and paint.

The most commonly misused substances on college campuses include alcohol, marijuana, and prescription stimulants.
