Department Representatives are elected internally by their own department - some departments have very formal election procedures, but some do not. If you are interested in joining the Graduate Student Senate, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and your Graduate Chair to find out more about the election process.
College Senators are normally elected during the annual school-wide elections in the Spring semester. However, open Senator positions may be filled during Fall Term through the appointment process. If you are interested in joining the Graduate Student Senate as a Senator, please contact email@example.com.
Commissioners are appointed by the Executive Officers following an open application period at the beginning of every Fall semester. However, open Commissioner positions may be filled at any time through the appointment process. If you are interested in joining the Graduate Student Senate as a Commissioner, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Executive Council Support Positions
These positions are based on the needs of the Executive Council and can range from event organizers, to photographers and graphic designers. If you have a way you think you can contribute, send us an email at email@example.com!
The annual GSS elections are held at the end of the Spring semester to determine Executive Officers and Senators for the upcoming school year. New application materials are typically released around weeks 4-6 of Spring semester. To be a valid candidate, you must submit the application and other materials by the required date and time. Being a part of Graduate Student Senate is an excellent opportunity to improve the lives of your fellow graduate students and graduate education at Ohio University. The elected President of GSS receives a tuition waiver and stipend. No other position receives financial assistance. The GSS office is in 305B Baker University Center.
