Teach and Research Abroad Programs

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers fellowships for U.S. graduating college seniors, graduate students, young professionals and artists to study, conduct research, and/or teach English abroad. In addition, Critical Language Enhancement Awards are available to grantees for study of critical need foreign languages before or during their grant period.
Fulbright's International Education Administrators Program
The IEA Program currently offers intensive two-week seminars in six countries: France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, and Russia. Seminars include campus visits with a cross-section of universities and colleges; briefings with faculty and administrators, government officials, and leading educational experts; and tours of historical and cultural sites. Participants return to their home institutions with an enhanced ability to build partnerships, encourage study abroad participation, and support international students.
EuroScholars is a unique research abroad program for highly talented undergraduate students from U.S. and Canadian institutions looking for an international research experience. The program offers research projects at 9 internationally-renowned European Research Universities in almost any discipline.
Kohei Miura Visiting Professorship
Every year since 1973, OHIO and Chubu University have exchanged faculty members through a visiting professors program, providing students and professors the unique opportunity of having a truly international learning experience. Faculty members who come to OHIO from Chubu University are called Robert Glidden Visiting Professors. OHIO faculty members who travel to Chubu University are Kohei Miura Visiting Professors – named in honor of the founder of Chubu University.
Ohio University-Gopikabai Sitaram Gawande College Partnership Support Fund [PDF]
The aims of the fund are to support faculty, staff or graduate student, projects that:
- Help build research and/or teaching capacity of Gawande College faculty members
- Enhance infrastructure to support education, research, teaching/learning, career development, and community service
- Ensure mutual learning, research, and service in content areas relevant to GSG faculty and students and to the local communities near GSG
- Enhance development of Gawande College as an educational institution
- Enhance awareness of India and of GSG at Ohio University
Successful applicants will travel to GSG College to carry out their proposed projects. Applicants must hold a current full-time teaching, research, or administrative position or must have full-time status as a graduate student in good standing at Ohio University.
The spring cycle deadline is Feb. 15, 2016 at 12:00 p.m.
Funding for Mobility
The Global Travel Fund supports OHIO faculty with international research, paper presentations, and other international scholarly or creative activities.
International Conferences
Next Einstein Forum (NEF) Global Gathering: Africa's Global Forum for Science
The inaugural NEF Global Gathering will be hosted by the Government of the Republic of Senegal from March 8 - 10, 2016 in Dakar, Senegal. Further information on the NEF is available at www.nef.org.
The goal of the NEF is to contribute to a transformed world-view of Africa and a vision of a global scientific community, with Africa as a key player. The NEF Global Gathering will showcase the positive progress and achievements that have been made by scientists from Africa, including in the diaspora, with specific focus on the emergence of young scientists.
