Ohio University President Dr. M. Duane Nellis
Dr. M. Duane Nellis is the 21st president of Ohio University. As an internationally recognized scholar and higher education leader, Dr. Nellis brings nearly four decades of experience in academia as a president, provost, dean and professor to Ohio University.
Leipzig University President Prof. Dr. med. Beate A. Schücking
Prof. Dr. med. Beate A. Schücking has served as the President of Leipzig University since 2011. She earned her PhD in experimental haematology at the Universität Ulm and has worked in higher education for four decades.
Consul General Herbert Quelle
Consul General Herbert Quelle has served as the German Consul General in Chicago since July, 2014. His office serves the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Dr. Andreas Ströhl, Goethe-Institut Washington Director and Goethe-Institut North America Regional Director
Dr. Andreas Ströhl was born in Munich in 1962 and studied German Literature and Philosophy. From 1988 to 2003 he worked for the Goethe-Institut in Munich, Bremen, Atlanta, Bonn and Prague. From 1996 to 1998 he was a visiting professor for Media-Theory at the University of Innsbruck. In April 2003 he was appointed commercial manager of the International Munich Film festival, for which he served as a director from 2004. to 2011. In 2011, he rejoined the Goethe-Institut, where he has served as the Director of the Goethe-Institut Washington and the North America Regional Director since 2016.
Dr. Nina Lemmens, German Center for Research and Innovation Executive Director
Dr. Nina Lemmens is the Executive Director of the German Center for Research and Innovation in New York City. She is also the Director of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) North America office in New York, which is responsible for the organization‘s activities in the USA and Canada.
Dr. Joseph Shields, Ohio University Vice President for Research and Creative Activity and Dean of the Graduate College
Dr. Joseph Shields is the Vice President for Research and Creative Activity and Dean of the Graduate College. He also serves as a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Ohio University.
Dr. Shields received his Doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley and focuses his research in astrophysics, interstellar medium, and active galactic nuclei. He is also a member of the Astrophysical Institute.
Professor John Sabraw, Ohio University Art Professor
John Sabraw is a Professor of Art and Chair of Painting + Drawing. He is also Board Advisor at Scribble Art Workshop in New York. He has most recently been featured in Smithsonian, New Scientist, London, and the Discovery Channel.
Eric Weiner, Award-Winning Author and Journalist
Eric Weiner is an author of The New York Times bestseller “The Geography of Bliss,” as well as two other popular books, “The Geography of Genius” and “Man Seeks God.” A longtime foreign correspondent for National Public Radio (NPR), Weiner reported from more than 30 nations covering some of the major international events of recent times. He is the recipient of several journalism awards, including the Angel Award for coverage of Islamic affairs in Asia. Weiner writes a regular column for BBC Travel, and his work also appears in The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post and other publications.
Dr. Lorna Jean Edmonds, Ohio University Vice Provost for Global Affairs and International Studies
Dr. Lorna Jean Edmonds is the Vice Provost for Global Affairs and International Studies at OHIO. She also serves as the Director of the Center for International Studies and as a Professor of Health Sciences and Professions.
