China: Shanghai University of Finance and Economics
Study for a semester or more at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE). SUFE is ranked among China’s best universities specializing in economics, finance and business. This exchange offers OHIO students an excellent opportunity for a greater understanding of China through an immersive study experience.
Courses are offered in English. Chinese language background is recommended, but not required. Each semester, SUFE offers around 35 courses in economics, business and finance in English. Chinese language classes are also available. Click here to watch a few SUFE videos.
SUFE is located in Shanghai, one of the most influential economic, technological, trade and cultural centers of eastern China. With a population of over 23 million, Shanghai is influenced by Chinese as well as Western culture and customs, and its architecture is a mix of both old and new. Situated on the flat lands of the Yangtze River delta, Shanghai is home to one of the most important seaports in China. The city is a shopper’s paradise, and with its countless cultural sites and museums of national importance, the city also attracts many Chinese and international tourists.

Eligibility and Selection Process
This program is open to highly motivated and independent undergraduate students of all majors who have completed at least one or more courses in the areas of economics, finance or business.
As part of the application, students must submit two letters of reference and an essay. Applicants also complete an interview as part of the selection process.
Applicants will be asked to submit a copy of their passport soon after their application is received by OGO. If you are considering applying for this exchange program and do not currently hold a valid passport, you are advised to apply for your passport as soon as possible.
Students who will be on probation at any point during the program for a conduct offense that took place less than a calendar year from the program start date may not study abroad. Click here to read the entire conduct policy.

Students are housed in the International Student Dorm in double rooms. Typically, students room with a Chinese roommate. Meals are available at the campus cafeteria.
Courses and Credits
Students take a full course load at SUFE and receive transfer 12-15 credits for passed coursework. Courses are offered in English.
SUFE also offers Chinese language courses.

Entry and Exit Requirements
U.S. citizens are required to have a valid U.S. passport when traveling outside of the United States. If you plan to study or travel abroad in the next year, apply for your passport now.
US citizens will need a visa to enter the country for the length of this program. SUFE and OGO will advise you on the visa process. You may need to document that you have sufficient funds to support yourself while in-country. Please also note that visa requirements may vary if you plan to stay in the country longer than the program dates or travel to other countries during or after the program. Please familiarize yourself with these recommendations and requirements prior to applying to a program.
