Amanda Hixson-Mansfield

Administrative Services Assistant

WIEC 207

Amanda started working with OGO in July of 2014 as an office assistant at the front desk. Now as the administrative associate, she works primarily with course registration for OHIO-led programs, as well as many other administrative tasks associated with current and future programs. Amanda also oversees the front desk staff and the federal work study students. As an Athens native, Amanda started working at Ohio University as student worker in the dining halls while she was in high school.

Amanda studied archaeology first at Hocking College and then at the University of Rio Grande. During her senior year and after graduation she worked as a paleoethnobotanist and zooarchaeologist, which basically means she analyzed plant and animal remains from local Native American sites. Amanda also participated on several field projects in the tristate region.

Having grown up in the country, Amanda loves to be outdoors. Fishing and camping are her favorite outdoor activities. When stuck inside she loves to read, especially historical fiction. Sci-fi and fantasy movies and television are also another big interest of hers. Amanda became a mom in January of 2016, so you can often find her being goofy with her son, Leif.
