OHIO Global Report


The OHIO Global Report is a talk show designed to forge stronger information ties among the various CIS programs, its students, faculty, staff and the wider university and Athens community. The program has the following objectives:

  1. Highlight issues of global concern affecting the areas under the Center for International Studies.
  2. Create a dialogic platform of interaction between the directors of the various CIS programs, visiting scholars and professors as well as students.
  3. Touch and highlight on research and scholarly works of the various faculty under CIS.
  4. Prepare students for the job market and serve as first hub of information about the various programs under CIS.
  5. Give CIS a strong social media presence as the recorded program will be shared on the various social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and also podcasted for easy access and distribution.



Discussion on the attempted coup in Turkey

Dr. Steve Howard, director of the Center for International Studies, interviews Dr. Nukhet Sandal, director of the War & Peace Studies Program, about the recent attempted coup in Turkey and what to watch for next. Originally from Turkey, Dr. Sandal's research areas include International Security, Religion and Global Politics, and Human Rights.


Episode 1: Featuring Dr. Francis Nyamnjoh

In this edition, Dr. Nyamnjoh, Head of Social Anthropology at the University of Cape Town, South Africa,  who has written extensively on media, culture, identity and globalization sheds more light on his work and these topics with us. Enjoy!
