Assistant Director of School of Dance, Film, and Theater

On May 15, 2014, Ohio University hired Rani Deighe Crowe as the Assistant Director of the School of Dance, Film, and Theater.

Rani started as an undergraduate acting major in the OU theater program in 1990. After two years, Rani took a detour from her education to New York City where she did stand up comedy, started writing character monologues, and worked as a manager at the Strand Bookstore. Rani finished her BA in dance/theater from Antioch College in 2001. She completed her MFA in Film at Ohio University in 2014.

A writer, director, actor, filmmaker, teacher, and collaborative interdisciplinary artist, Rani will help the School of Dance, Film, and Theater with student advising, recruitment and retention, student services, and coordinating resources and opportunities between the Divisions.

The article is entitled "Veiling the Modular: Literary Language and Subjective Nationalism in Sinhala Radio Song of Sri Lanka, 1957-1964." The South Asianist is published by the Centre for South Asian Studies at the University of Edinburgh.
