High School students welcome to join our inaugural Broadway at Ohio Summer Music Theater Camp culminating in a Cabaret Review Performance Saturday July 23rd !!! Broadway at OHIO offers top-notch musical theater training for talented and aspiring students. Participants will receive classes in Acting, Dance, Singing and Audition Techniques! Students will have the exciting opportunity to study with the Director of Opera and Assistant Professor of Voice at Ohio University Andrew Ryker, professional Choreographer Christi Camper Moore in beautiful Athens, Ohio, and the head of the Performance area at Ohio University Division of Theater, Shelley Delaney.

Nightly activities may include access to David Dorfman Dance rehearsals and performances, Under the Elms Outdoor Summer Concert, cooking classes at the Culinary Studio, Copperheads baseball game, bowling night, movie night, collaborative art making at Passion Works Studio, sketch night, dance party…and more!

SCHEDULE AND CLASS OFFERINGS

Our tentative daily schedule includes four classes daily, and nightly activities! 

7:30-5 p.m. daily schedule includes meals, dance techniques, movement composition, singing, acting, improv or collaboration-based classes. Opportunities for students to bring in their own material, have guided time to work, and then receive professional and peer feedback is built into each day’s activities, as well as nightly group activities to engage in after classes and before lights out at 10 p.m. each day.

 

IMPORTANT DATES

Sunday, June 17—Arrival to campus. Registration begins at 3 p.m.
Monday, June 18—Classes begin!
Saturday, June 23—11 a.m. Cabaret Review Performance; Final day of camp & checking out of dorm rooms

 

MEET THE INSTRUCTORS:

Andrew Ryker is the Director of Opera and Assistant Professor of Voice at Ohio University.  He is the former Artistic Director of Boston Opera Collaborative and he has served on the directing staffs at New England Conservatory, Opera New Jersey and Des Moines Metro Opera.  Ryker’s productions have been seen with the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, Intermezzo Chamber Opera, Eastern Nazarene College, Boston Opera Collaborative, Millikin University, MetroWest Opera, Drake University and New England Conservatory.

Christi Camper Moore has a diverse background as a dance educator, choreographer, and administrator.  She has taught and held supervisory roles at all levels of K-12 dance education, worked as an Assistant Professor of Dance at Coker College (SC), served as the Arts Coordinator for the West Virginia Department of Education, and held various positions in arts administration. Christi loves musical theater with choreography credits for the stage including: Hairspray,  Urinetown, Fame, Annie, bobrauschenbergamerica, Guys and Dolls, Crazy For You, Runaways, Oklahoma, Grease, The Music Man, Little Shop of Horrors, South Pacific, Anything Goes, and Bye, Bye Birdie. Christi is an adjunct faculty member in the College of Fine Arts and College of Education at Ohio University.

Shelley Delaney heads the Performance Area at the Ohio University Division of Theater, encompassing the PATP and the BFA in Acting. Her professional acting credits include work at The Cincinnati Playhouse, McCarter Theatre, Bay Street Theatre, Victory Gardens (Joseph Jefferson nomination for Free Man of Color), GeVa, Cleveland Playhouse, Capital Rep, Delaware Theatre Company, Virginia Stage, Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre, Florida Rep, Two River Theatre and Dorset Theatre Festival, in plays ranging from Shakespeare and Shaw to contemporary world premieres. She most recently played Tammy Faye Bakker in Tammy Faye’s Final Audition in the first Tantrum Theater Season.
