Athens Jazz Festival to Take Place April 11-13

The Ohio University School of Music is pleased to announce the 2014 Athens Jazz Festival. The Festival, which will take place on April 11-13, will feature OU jazz ensembles, as well as student ensembles from area high schools and visiting artist Carl Allen (drums).

Free Admission, open to the public

Featuring small group jazz performed by Ohio University faculty, AJF guest adjudicators, and visiting artist Carl Allen.

Free Admission, open to the public

High school and middle school jazz ensemble performances, with adjudication by guests Curtis Johnson, Ben Huntoon and OU faculty member Sean Parsons.  Participating schools include:  Athens County Jazz Ensemble, Bloom-Carroll High School, Edison Middle School, Lancaster High School Jazz Ensembles I and II, and Felicity Franklin High School.

Dr. Marina Peterson Published in the South Atlantic Quarterly

Feb 10, 2016 Dr. Marina Peterson, School of Interdisciplinary Arts, contributed an article to the January 2016 issue of South Atlantic Quarterly, for an issue focused on Welfare and Precarity. Her article is entitled “Sensory Attunements: Working with the Past in the Little Cities of Black Diamonds.” The South Atlantic Quarterly is published by Duke University Press.
