Elizabeth Braun

Director of Athens Community Music School

Elizabeth began as Director of the Athens Community Music School in 2005. Prior to coming to Athens, Ms. Braun taught both band and orchestra in Virginia, Wisconsin and Michigan and was on the music education faculty at James Madison University.­ Additionally, she was the coordinator of administrative interns for the Boston Symphony Orchestra—Tanglewood in the summers of 1991-1994. Elizabeth has been a guest clinician/lecturer and guest conductor in Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Louisiana. She has presented­ at state conferences in Michigan, Ohio and Virginia and published in Contributions to Music Education, the Journal of Music Teacher Education, and The Fingerboard.

Dr. Braun has recently been appointed Assistant Dean for Academic Budget Planning for the College of Fine Arts in addition to her duties as Director of ACMS.
